about

The village of Wressle, where we live, has the remains of the only castle in East Yorkshire. It was built by the Percy family, Dukes of Northumberland. In 1383 Harry Hotspur (Henry Percy) took all the able-bodied men of Wressle to fight at the Battle of Otterburn - a futile encounter with the Scottish Lord Douglas. Hotspur was captured but survived - all the Wressle men were killed along with thousand of others. This song is their only memorial.
